Debbie Bustetter
Hi! My name is Debbie Bustetter. I have followed Jesus Christ since I was seventeen years old, married to my husband, Pete, for twenty-six years, educating my six children all their lives - my oldest graduated in 2020. I have taught science (I will not be teaching that class during the 2024-2025 school year), writing, and geography at the Global Christian Co-op since September 2021. I taught science with a small science club for three years previously. For four years, our family was heavily involved in competitive speech and debate. I taught junior speech for two years. I like to teach with games, songs, hands-on learning, and student participation. I teach Sunday school at church to 4th and 5th graders. I led Celebrate Jesus vacation Bible school for many years. I intertwine the Bible in what we learn, bathe everything in prayer, and follow His leading. Homework will be provided for parents who would like their students to work on during the week but students are not required to do homework. My two girls, ages thirteen and twelve, will be in the classes just to give you an idea of the age range but it will apply to many older ages. Students younger may join the classes if mature and independent.
Global Geography/Cultural Studies (MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS: 1:30pm) (Middle/High School): $50/mo for two days a week ($45 for any additional sibling); or for one day a week ($35/mo and $30 for additional siblings) one-time supply fee of $30. In this class, we will explore many different cultures through maps skills, vocabulary, games, presentation skills, prayer for the nations/government officials/persecuted church/missionaries, research skills, topography, memorization, current events, songs, land/climate and resources and industries, map tracing, and scriptures. Homework will be provided for parents who would like their students to work during the week but students are not required to do homework. Students needing high school credit can work on additional curriculum at home with parental oversight and testing. We use Abeka geography at home but in this class, we go more in-depth and do not use a curriculum. This is a supplemental class. A weekly email will be provided.
Writing: Composition/Grammar/Spelling with Phonics/Vocabulary (WEDNESDAYS: 9:15am) (Middle school): $35/mo ($30 for any additional sibling). Writing is important because we can influence many people for the Lord and our writings can be handed down through generations. The Lord gives us his example by writing down his Word and using it for centuries. In this interactive class, we will practice writing in many forms: possible ideas are a journal, student’s testimonies or a track to share the gospel, letter writing to a friend or relative or pastor, a government official, persecuted Christians or missionaries, creative books, research essays, and product reviews. The emphasis will be on something the student finds interesting so it can be tailored to their abilities and motivate them to enjoy writing. We will have an independent ten to twenty-minute writing time most weeks. Students can bring something they are working on at home from their curriculum to not double up on writing assignments. We will work on techniques to improve phonics to learn how to spell better and learn suffixes/prefixes. We will learn basic grammar, sentence and paragraph structure. Homework will be provided for parents who would like their students to work during the week but students are not required to do homework. A weekly email will be provided.
Payments are due the first of the month via cash, check, or Zelle (7574073515 Debbie Bustetter). I can send you a Zelle request if you let me know your Zelle contact (either your email or phone number).
