Combined Preschool and Kindergarten Program

Our combined Preschool and Kindergarten Program will be led by Mrs. Nikkia Tolbert and Mrs. Christine, both of whom have years of experience in the field of early childhood education. The program will focus on early reading and math skills, and both morning and afternoon programs will offer a Spanish lesson taught by Mrs. Christine, who is bilingual.  The hours are 9 - 12:30 p.m. for the Morning Class, and from 12:30 to 3 p.m. for the afternoon class, and will be tailored for ages 3 to 5/6. Students will break into two learning groups during their Math and Language Arts learning time to tailor the learning to each level specifically, with levels being determined by the teachers after a few weeks of observation. Mrs. Christine and Mrs. Nikkia will co-teach for the morning program, and the afternoon program will be led primarily by Mrs. Nikkia and an Assistant, with Mrs. Christine facilitating just doing the Spanish lesson for the afternoon class.

The cost will be $175/month for the morning program, and $150/month for the afternoon program, with scholarships and sibling discounts available for an additional $25 per sibling. Students who are five or older will need to be legally registered as homeschoolers by the parents, and students ages 4 and below must have a parent onsite, even if not volunteering directly with the program.

Parents may relax in the coffee area or at the outdoor picnic tables, or volunteer at the co-op.  Our program will accommodate up to 10 students per program. All students must be potty-trained.  Parents may also apply to help out in the classroom for a tuition discount, or may drop off at full price.  Registration is $150 early bird and $200 after March per family, in addition to a $100/student Materials fee due per student by September before the program begins.

Hi Global Christian Co-op Families,

My name is Christine Wigfall, and I am looking forward to working with your Pre-Schoolers and Kindergarteners this upcoming Fall! I am a single mom of a 17-year-old boy named Matéo who will be a Senior in High School at the beginning of this school year, 2025-2026. I have homeschooled him since Elementary school. Before becoming a mom, I worked at daycares and then at a private Christian Academy teaching pre-schoolers the Abeka curriculum, and at CHKD as a Child Life Assistant helping children to cope with their illnesses, and a few other responsibilities.

I now have the privilege  Certified Postpartum Doula and Holistic Infant Care Specialist, proudly supporting Families throughout the Hampton Roads area.  Over the last 17+ years, I have enjoyed caring for children of all ages as a full time nanny, teaching the 2 year olds to 5 year olds their (numbers, letter, shapes, colors, vowels, sight words, Spanish, and so much more,) and helping them meet and go beyond their milestones. Teaching and caregiving go hand-in-hand for me. As a homeschooling mom, I understand that every child learns differently, and I will strive to create wonder-filled learning experiences tailored to each child's unique needs and style.

One of my greatest hopes is to nurture in children a love of learning more about the Bible and help them discover how amazing and adventurous it can be. For me, teaching does not just stop with academic knowledge, so we will also be learning about skills, like tying their shoes, learning to zip, holding a pencil correctly, practicing good manners, and so on.

I am especially excited to bring the gift of language into my work by introducing Spanish (primarily through immersion),  German, Turkish, and Chinese. I spent my entire childhood in Germany, which is my home. Being surrounded by so many different cultures, I developed a love of learning about as many cultures and languages as I could remember when I was a child. Children are ever so curious when they hear a new language, and I am sure to pique their curiosity when they learn about a new country, language, and culture during the school year. I pray that your children will learn many new things with me and always remember, “they are unique and different and will shine brightly in their own God given way!”
